  • whew, both beers now in secondary (and the coffee stout ready to bottle, finally); strong apple (“hard”) cider now in primary fermentation!

  • Just tried my IPA at a little over two weeks in bottle, and it’s lovely, carbonated nicely, hoppy enough (not insanely), &, er, good head.

  • Go play the Shine Competition. http://is.gd/57fcy Win liquor. Seriously. http://is.gd/57fkg . Jetse rocks.

  • @Evitchka Looking forward to seeing your story too!

  • @Evitchka @jacquesbarcia @splinister Thanks folks! 🙂

  • Have a baguette from the baakery downstairs, and curious to know whether it’s soft inside, or crunchy inside. Hoping former, expect latter.

  • Empty offices get bookcases. Not-new professors get none, and shouldn’t request one. I failed to arrive at that conclusion. How baffling!

  • My students running around campus at the moment. Assigned themselves a horrifically hard scavenger hunt, so I figured, what the hell, right?

  • @splinister thanks Maura! I figure we might as well have some positivity around this place; fashionable gloom has grown a bit drab at times

  • (and yes, I now have 2 carboys… everyone in Korea was sold out except one place. Supplies are an issue here.)

  • Hopped my Coffee Stout the other day, but having some second thoughts. I suspect I’ll need to shift it to the other carboy to sit a bit more

  • Well, the pumpkin ale was still bubbling nicely this morning, though at a much slower rate… about once every 3-5 sec, now…

  • @ShawnScarber Thanks Shawn!

  • Wondering why the carbonation is off, tho; and related poor head retention… hmmm. research time!

  • Meanwhile, the wheat beer is nice and strong, the IPA is okay if undercarbonated, and I just hopped my very coffeelicious stout.

  • Sweet squash beer, tasted odd when I racked to ferment-bucket but we’ll see. Spice tea will help, and who knows? Maybe it’ll rock. Um…

  • I just brewed up a dark pumpkin ale, though we’ll see how pumpkin it ends up. Used “dan hobak” which is sweet squash, I guess.

  • @JonathanStrahan Ooops, by the way, I’ll be emailing you in a day or two about “The Bodhisattvas” — a couple of questions…

  • @JonathanStrahan And that’s very kind of you, I’m glad you liked “Of Melei, of Ulthar”! 🙂

  • @CreateSean @mslongjr @JamesTurnbull @JonathanStrahan @jasonsanford @JeremiahTolbert Thanks guys! I’m excited and chuffed!

  • Story accepted for Shine Anthology, release April 2010! (Yay!)

  • @ShawnScarber sorry, man! It’s coming this afternoon (my time) — ie. probably will be in your email when you wake tomorrow!

  • @ShawnScarber Yup, and my silly excuses are silly. I’ll email it as soon as the battery is powered up on the netbook it’s on…

  • @charlesatan Oh, does he do homebrew too? He’s probably way advanced tho, and I’m just starting. Once I’ve done a few all-grain batches, eh?

  • @ShawnScarber Ha, only because I don’t drink all of what I make, else it would be quite unhealthy…

  • @JamesTurnbull writing a book? About home brewing? Eh? Nah, I don’t know about it enough. Reading books on it, tho…

  • I’ve grown a little obsessed with this brewing hobby…

  • My wheatbeer is fermenting gleefully, the IPA-“lite” is bottled, and I’m preparing to do a nice coffee stout this weekend, maybe tomorrow.

  • @ShawnScarber Huh, I just asked myself the same thing yesterday! 🙂

  • @alexiskienlen I know how that feels…

  • 2 hr hike today, and random hikers had disassembled the same barrier *I* started disassembling a few months ago! Yay civil disobedience!

  • @charlesatan Thanks, mostly feeling a bit better now.

  • woke up with a sore throat. why? dunno… maybe the floor heater dried out the air? it’s COLD in Seoul today!

  • @jsyi Aha, yeah, well, that’s cool. By the way, it’s the third post in that series I thought might interest you most!

  • @jsyi Thanks, but wow, old post! How’d you happen on that? You might also like this series: http://tinyurl.com/ylk2cn9

  • @JSColley Will post about it sooner or later… maybe later…

  • That is, if Moore’s Law is actually sustainable. My physicist friend is not so sure…

  • @SethShostak also linked Moore’s Law and the acceleration of SETI research, with interesting implications…

  • Vakoch mentioned @SETIEarthSpeaks , a twitter feed for Earth Speaks, an interesting site: http://earthspeaks.seti.org/

  • Attended an interesting SETI workshop in Daejon yesterday with @SethShostak, @drseti, Doug Vakoch & Claudio Maccone speaking.

  • @alexiskienlen friend me, I have a PM to send you! 🙂

  • @BlueTyson Wait, I just saw the newest. Scratch that last twitter of mine; I’m keeping out of it but not urging gentleness anymore. 🙂

  • @BlueTyson Well, you said it, not me. 🙂 I think lots of us have made a similar mistake at some point, so I’m glad you were gentle…

  • @nalohopkinson Yeah, I’m curious to see what the new crop of students have to say… I’ll let you know!

  • @BlueTyson (By crit session I mean it sounds like the kind of thing one sometimes hears in Creative Writing classes during critiques.)

  • @BlueTyson Seems to have ended, that crit session in the comment section. 🙂

  • @SevenZark Yeah, they are… tho if I can find a good video chat app for multiplatforms, maybe something even more efficient, it’d be nice.

  • @BackWbill64 Devil indeed. Russian viral crap still plaguing me. Thinking of just wiping this drive and reinstalling… later today, maybe.

  • RT @ebogjonson RT @LudovicSpeaks: More people believe in UFOs than oppose the public health insurance option http://bit.ly/1KFlfT

  • @JazzManKL Damn! Wish I could, but I’m in Korea! 😉
