@duckbokey “There was never prostitution in Korea until Japan colonized us.” “Slavery in Korea wasn’t really slavery…” etc…
@duckbokey fornabler = leap? Yeah, those people annoy me. Also, the people who take Korea’s Urban Legends at face value…
@duckbokey Huh… me, I’m ready to kill anyone who explains basic, fundamental knowledge of Korea that anyone living here 8 years would know
Reader Poll and anthology – both including “Cai.” Vote! Buy! C’mon! 🙂 http://bit.ly/5meo01
@StephanieDBrown Yeah… very cool.
@StephanieDBrown 🙂 I understand, but there are slots for newbies, and it can’t hurt to apply, can it?
@StephanieDBrown It was… you should apply to go! 🙂
@StephanieDBrown 🙂
Doing a group interview with some of the Launch Pad people now… listen live: http://www.ustream.tv/channel/bookchatter
Spider/Jeanne Robinson fundraiser: http://www.starshipsofa.com/20091202/aural-delights-no-111-lawrence-santoro-pt-1/
But I wouldn’t start with that book. Rather, the Papazian _Complete Joy of Homebrewing_ for a starter… tho Radical Brewing is GREAT…
@Outshine You know, it’s not all that time-consuming, to be honest. Just a few hours here and there. For me, it’s a good de-stresser…
Now stepping downstairs, where a Futurist guy I know is coming soon with wine… wheee.
@aclipscomb oops, Mighty Hercules, Star Trek, Twilight Zone. Not bad, but cartoon poor. Oh, Flintstones and Spider Man, too.
We had a TV, by the way, it’s just there were only 3 channels Up North, and Saturday cartoons was an hour of Mighty Hercules,
@aclipscomb Yeah, I had not much commercial TV till… what, was I ten? Really?
today in class discussing Minsoo Kang’s “A Confucian Coincidence.” (Last class was Nalo Hopkinson’s “Tan-Tan and Dry Bone”.)
SO don’t want to do more editing today!!!!!!
@Outshine Do you brew, Jetse? It’s a wonderful, daring book. Or do you just want the radical *brews*? 😉
@aclipscomb what the…? Ah well, at least it sounds better than that HEROES show…
@KateSherrod er, stalk? (shudder)
@KateSherrod Huh, you got the nice cider! You win!
Good night, mad raving lunacy-moonacy of the world (which we call the internet).
@KateSherrod ha, you said jelly!
Right, off to bed with my copy of Radical Brewing. Tomorrow, between classes: School Magazine Editing Marathon… er, um, whee?
Not all at once, mind. Er, well, wait… um, nah. Not for now, anyway. Not ready for bacteria, cacao, and rice. Honey/juniper/wildberry? Mmm
Researching ancient brews is fun, though. Why do I yearn to brew with rice & honey & juniper berries & bacterias & cacao & wild berries &c?
@KateSherrod Heh, yeah, er…
@aclipscomb Wow, new to me. & Gleek is scary-looking on Wikipedia, dude.
At least she didn’t question whether Miles Davis is famous. If she’d suggested Bill Evans instead I would have lost it.
But, haha, I guess she imagines U2 is probably less of a global success than Rain, the Wonder Girls, and Sonyeo Shidae… 아이구…
And even if the Korean Wikipedia article on U2 is sparse (http://tinyurl.com/yjodd5n), English Wikipedia isn’t hard to use…
Wow… freelance project editorial comments: “U2 is a famous band? Really? Who are they?” Wow. Hmmm.
@KateSherrod Yeah, sometime. Like I say, not disappointed, but I have to research this a bit more, I think…
that was about the cider, by the way. Added some spices to the pumpkin ale, too. Freelance gig killing me. Ack!
@KateSherrod Oh, it’s alright… Not perfect, but alright for a first attempt. But can’t seem to crash the yeast dormant! Not even freezing!
@KateSherrod ha but the cider isn’t so very apple-juicey anymore… 🙂
Also: witbier not yet really ready. Needs some more conditioning. Maybe a couple of weeks.
apple ciders bottled. The last few liters I left, just to see what would happen, have become insanely sour. Practical joke time! Muhahaha.
@Kate_Baker Well, actually, it’s not “hard to prevent explosion” but just difficult to gauge when to bottle/chill it. And no sorghum here…
@Kate_Baker Yeah, I know… But a bit scary in that it’s hard to prevent explosion. Plastic bottles, I think, in a box. Sometime…not today
@StephanieDBrown ha, I like almond, pecan, and cashew better, but I ha a bunch of walnuts for baking. And REALLY wanna make banana beer…
once you start homebrewing, you start thinking of fermenting everything. http://tinyurl.com/bananabeer
woo, walnut butter turned out pretty good. Also, a few pounds of frozen banana now defosting in my kitchen. Banana bread fixins & who knows?
@JeremiahTolbert … unless of course they actually turn up here, in which case I got my trusty homebrew to see me through the dark age…
@JeremiahTolbert reality, which is that life will mostly go on unchanged for millennia…
@JeremiahTolbert focus excessively on it, smart SF will do interesting worldbuilding around it, and a certain amount of SF will reflect the
@JeremiahTolbert Well, any contact we make is likely to be across such big distantances we’ll never actually meet. I guess bad SF will…
@ShawnScarber I’ll try it for an early sense of the taste when I bottle the stuff tonight or tomorrow…
@ShawnScarber we’ll see… it may be a bit strong on the coffee side, and the alc may be higher than I thought. (Long, slow fermentation.)
