@mslongjr @SturdyHelpmeet I also think probably some of it is anodyne for the deep panic and worry of living with the entire nuclear arsenal of another superpower pointed at you. This stuff is pretty much the polar opposite of (i.e. the distilled essence of suppressing) that terror and awareness. @mslongjr @SturdyHelpmeet Imagine the cast of Dallas trying to survive after a large scale nuclear exchange. I mean, that’s why The Day After was so shocking: it visualized what literally the entire rest of mainstream TV was built to help us avoid thinking about, despite being aware of it.
