It’s been a busy month, but I finally caught up and listened to @ajosshi’s discussion of our translation of Jeong Soyeon’s “The Flowering” today, and enjoyed it a lot:

@KBSKorea24 @BarryPWelsh Actually, I received co-translation credit on the version in Readymade Bodhisattva, but it was Esther Song’s translation plus a lot of necessary revisions by me! (The extensive copyediting was extensive enough to be called co-translation.) Song was unreachable at the time. @KBSKorea24 @BarryPWelsh Would love to see the segment if it’s posted somewhere!

@trikeabout 😜 If you’re very organized about it, yes—which I’m not sure I trust myself to be, based on my past history of disassembling things. But you never know. I’d rather buy a cheapo Chinese alto to try it with first, though, all things being equal. @trikeabout Saxes have lots of similar looking bits that are not identical and need to go in the right spot. According to Howard, you can figure it out by trial and error, but it seems like enough of a headache that you being really organized and having a space to do it in would help a lot.

I’m just catching up but this was a lovely discussion on air by @ajosshi of a translation very close to our hearts: Bae Myung-hoon (@KiyikKiyik)’s “The Peppers of Green Scallion”:
https://t.co/KkFuWscZpA Anyone who wants to check out the whole story can find it where it first appeared, over on Clarkesworld!

📹 Ha, this is the guy I have always considered the “real” Don Cherry. (Canadians, you know what I mean.) This is a great 1975 album! (Released in ‘77 in the US, but it was recorded in 1975 and came out in Italy that year.) Holds up so well!… tmblr.co/ZwA1ltdA5c3fSq…
