I do wonder what former colony’s culture the countercultural Brits of this era would have coopted more heavily instead, if for whatever reason they hadn’t been so gung-ho about watering down (Hindu) culture and beliefs. Burmese? West African? Native Australian? Pan-Caribbean? (That said, theres a long history of fascination with India in Britain so… it’d have probably taken a lot to make that happen.)
